Michael Jackson Scholarships
In 1986, Michael Jackson gave the “United Negro College Fund” (UNCF) 1.5 million dollars, to help establish a scholarship endowment in Michael Jackson’s name.
In 1988, Michael Jackson made another donation, of 600,000 dollars from his Madison Square Garden benefit concert to the “United Negro College Fund. The fund was created to offer financial support to African-American students attending one of UNCF’s 37 member historically black colleges or universities. Since the scholarship was established in Michael Jackson’s name more than 500 students attending 37 historically black colleges or universities received the Michael Jackson Scholarship. The Michael Jackson scholarship provides financial assistance to communication arts and social science students attending a UNCF college/university during the upcoming academic year. 2015 Michael Jackson UNCF ScholarshipCandidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship will provide an award up to $5,000 depending on the financial need of the student as verified by the attending University or College.
In order to have a completed application package, candidates must include a completed application profile, an essay (prompt and instructions located within the appropriate section of the application), and a transcript (unofficial accepted). All application materials must be submitted by the deadline for full consideration. All previous recipients of this award must apply for reconsideration. 37 historically black colleges and universities belong to the UNCF network of member. institutions. UNCF provides these colleges and universities with a range of support including operating resources and financial assistance. High School seniors must be planning to matriculate at a UNCF member school in the fall. Proof of acceptance will be required. The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JUNE of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000. A one time award was disbursed in September 2015. Candidates had to include a complete application profile,essay (prompt and instructions located within the appropriate section of the application) a transcript (unofficial accepted).
Candidates must have had a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship provided an award up to $5,000 depending on the financial need of the student as verified by the attending University or College. All application materials were to be submitted by the deadline for full consideration. All previous recipients of this award had to reapply for reconsideration. The application was only open to students at UNCF member schools. The Michael Jackson scholarship provides financial assistance to communication arts and social science students attending a UNCF college/university during the 2015-16 academic year. Michael Jackson Scholarship for the Communication Arts 2013-14A scholarship up to $ 5000 for College Freshman, College Junior, College Senior, College Sophomore and Graduate Student with a minimum GPA: 2.5. Eligible majors included Art, Communications, English, Fine Arts, Mass Communications, Music, Performing Arts, Theater Arts/Drama, Vocal Performance, Visual Arts, Psychology, Social Sciences. Eligible schools were UNCF Institutes.
